Situation Analysis

Strategies and approaches to be developed and applied for combating racism and xenophobia have to fit to local conditions and environment. The analysis of the local situation and the needs of the target groups will be conducted in all participating countries and serve as basis for the work on the individual approaches.

The objectives are:

  • to get a clear picture about the situation with regard to the different challenges in an ethnic diverse society regarding equal rights and opportunity in each partner city and about the local strategies and approaches currently applied.
  • to get a deeper understanding of similarities and differences between the cities with regards to framework conditions, problems the target groups are facing, capacities and working practice etc.


Experiences of the other partners will be used in order to get ideas on how to improve local strategies.

The analysis contents:

  1. Definition of racism
  2. Introduction into the local situation (Political structure/ Composition of the local population/ Outline of local history of migration/ Overview of attitudes towards vulnerable groups)
  3. Situation of the target groups (exclusion / restriction / distinction / preference-disadvantage) of vulnerable groups - in various fields)
  4. Local stakeholders and their approaches and strategies to prevent and combat racism
